Singin’ in the Rain with Stanley Donen

I remember the first time I saw SINGING IN THE RAIN, I was home sick from high school one day and had already started swing dancing. I started watching during the scene where Gene is trying to get away from a mob of fans by jumping on top of cars and trollies. I was so mesmerized! And I had no idea I was watching Gene Kelly or Singing in the Rain, until he sang and danced in the title song. I was absolutely hooked and tried to find as much info as I could on Gene Kelly as possible.

With this year being the 60th anniversary of the release of Singin’ In The Rain and the 100th birthday of the man him self, Mr. Gene Kelly. The media has latched on to these facts and has been reporting on many of the accomplishments of Gene and the movie. But with this clip they pay tribute to the man behind the camera, Mr. Stanley Donen. He was Gene’s partner in crime and helped bring to life some of the biggest and best accomplishments in musical and dance movie history during the 1950’s and 1960’s. We all talk about Gene’s big accomplishments and all of his feats of dancing glory but lets face it a star is only as good as the people he has on his backing him up. Stanley had so much to give and made a lot of dancers dreams come true on the silver screen. Donen has to be one of the greatest directors to have ever lived having his hand in almost all of the iconic dance films that we still talk about to this day. I am in awe of all of those accomplishments Donen created and thank him very much for all of his hard work in bring these moving dreams to life.
